Data from more than 10,000 new patient phone calls recorded by Call Tracker ROI in dental offices across North America shows the average office misses 1/3 of these calls. That means the phone just rings and rings, the caller gets a busy signal or the call goes to voicemail.

Another study shows the average fee-for-service office only converts about 34% of new patient phone calls they actually answer. While PPO offices perform better, with a 46% schedule rate, that’s still not as high as it should be.

If 100 potential new patients call your office, you don’t answer 1/3 of the calls and only schedule appointments with 1/3 of the callers you do talk to, that’s only 22 new patients for the month when you could have scheduled 78 more.
